- Demanding Unreserved Apology

The former chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on Pension Reform, Abdulrasheed Maina, is demanding the sum of N10bn in a defamation suit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and its acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu.
The embattled ex-Pension boss has also sought a court order mandating the EFCC and Magu to publish an unreserved apology to him in at least three daily newspapers for defamation of character.
Time Nigeria learnt that in the suit was in respect to a press interview Magu granted on November 30 and December 14, 2017, Maina’s counsel, James Onyilo, asked the court to declare the interview defamatory with slanderous, untrue, injurious intention to lower the reputation and integrity of his client in the estimation of right thinking members of the society.
Maina also sought an order mandating the EFCC and Magu to retract and publish an unreserved apology to him in at least three daily newspapers within seven days from the day of the judgement.
Meanwhile, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami said the controversial recall of Abdulrasheed Maina into the federal civil service won’t affect the reputation of President Muhammadu Buhari and his anti-corruption war.
