Makinde Set to Rename LAUTECH

Oyo Governor, Egr.Seyi Makinde has taken steps to rename Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.
A Bill seeking to rename the State Higher Institution to  be known as Ladoke Akintola University (LAU) would be sent to the Oyo State House of Assembly for approval is in progress.
 
The state’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Oyelowo Oyewo (SAN), disclosed this during a press briefing after the state executive council meeting held at the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, on Tuesday.

According to him, the state government will forward a bill tagged “Ladoke Akintola University (LAU)” amendment bill to the Oyo State House of Assembly.

Oyelowo noted that the decision was targetted at converting the institution to a conventional University. 
If approved,the University would accommodate courses in law, humanities, among others.

The briefing was attended by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun; and Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Abdulraham Abdulraheem.
It would be recalled that the Governor has extended LAUTECH Campus with the establishment of one of its Faculties to Iseyin,an agrarian Community.
