NDC Begins Sales of Expression of Interests, Nomination Forms, Fixes Dates for Screening, Primaries Ahead of 2027 Polls

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has announced the commencement of the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for aspirants seeking to contest various elective positions on the platform of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Tuesday and jointly signed by the party’s National Chairman, Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the party disclosed that the sale of Expression of Interest Forms would begin on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and end on Monday, May 18, 2026.

According to the timetable released by the party, screening and interview of aspirants, which would determine eligibility for the purchase of Nomination Forms, are scheduled to hold between Tuesday, May 19, and Thursday, May 21, 2026.

The party advised all aspirants to attend the screening exercise with relevant credentials and supporting documents.

It stated that the sale of Nomination Forms would commence immediately after the screening exercise from Thursday, May 21, to Saturday, May 23, 2026, while completed forms are expected to be submitted on or before Monday, May 25, 2026.

The statement further revealed that appeals arising from the screening process would be entertained on May 25 and 26, while primary elections for various elective offices are slated for May 27 and 28, 2026.

According to the party, the Presidential Primary Election will hold on May 29, 2026, in Abuja.

The NDC explained that aspirants seeking tickets for State Houses of Assembly would be screened in their respective states, while screening for National Assembly and presidential aspirants would take place at the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja.

It also disclosed that governorship primaries would be conducted at the local government level.

The party noted that all aspirants would be required to sign an undertaking in line with the party’s guidelines and code of conduct.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and internal democracy, the NDC assured members and aspirants of a credible and inclusive process in the sale of forms and conduct of primaries.

The party also announced the adoption of the “open secret ballot” system for its primaries, describing it as a measure aimed at guaranteeing credibility, fairness, and democratic participation.

The NDC added that its approved nomination fees remain among the lowest compared to those charged by other major political parties in the country.

Under the approved fee structure, aspirants for State Houses of Assembly are to pay N1 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N1.5 million for the Nomination Form, while House of Representatives aspirants will pay N2 million and N4 million respectively.

Senatorial aspirants are expected to pay N3 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N5 million for the Nomination Form, while governorship aspirants will pay N10 million and N20 million respectively.

For the presidential ticket, aspirants are to pay N20 million for the Expression of Interest Form and N40 million for the Nomination Form.

The party, however, stated that female aspirants and persons living with disabilities would enjoy discounts of 50 per cent and 25 per cent respectively across all categories.

The NDC reaffirmed its determination to conduct a transparent and credible primary election process capable of producing competent candidates for the 2027 general elections.
