New Police Airwing CP Champions Stronger Partnerships Through Aviation Stakeholder Visits

2 Mins read

Commissioner of Police for the Nigeria Police Force Airwing, CP Martin Nwogoh, has commenced a series of strategic courtesy visits to prominent aviation stakeholders at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. These visits aim to reinforce inter-agency synergy and mutual understanding within the aviation security framework.

The initiative follows CP Nwogoh’s recent assumption of office, succeeding AIG Danladi Lalas, who retired after reaching the statutory age of 60. Addressing his intent, CP Nwogoh described the outreach as an essential first step in fostering relationships pivotal to aviation safety and security.

During a visit to the 011 Presidential Air Fleet (PAF), CP Nwogoh underlined the unit’s strategic role in the aviation sector. “I assumed duty about three weeks ago, following the retirement of AIG Lalas. It was imperative for me to engage with key industry stakeholders, and PAF, being a critical player, is among my first stops,” he stated.

He expressed his commitment to sustaining and enhancing the collaboration established by his predecessor. Air Commodore A.B. Sule, representing the Fleet Commander, reciprocated with a strong commitment to maintaining a productive partnership with the Police Airwing.

“We’ve built a longstanding relationship with the Police Airwing and look forward to continuing this collaboration,” Air Commodore Sule remarked. He also assured the Police delegation of the PAF’s openness and support.

CP Nwogoh’s visits extended to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), where Captain Toyin Lawani, representing the Director General, acknowledged the CP’s initiative. Captain Lawani pledged unwavering support for the Police Airwing’s operations and emphasized the NCAA’s shared dedication to aviation safety and regulation.

Further engagements included meetings with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), where the Regional/Airport Manager, Gambo Abubakar Aboki, warmly welcomed the delegation. CP Nwogoh reiterated the necessity of creating synergy among all stakeholders operating within the airport environment.

CP Nwogoh also engaged with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), advocating for a unified approach to aviation security. His visit to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Command at the airport was equally impactful, as the Commander, Mohammed Ajiya, pledged continued collaboration in combating drug-related offenses.

At the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), CP Nwogoh was received by the Director General/CEO, Captain Alex Badeh Jr. Captain Badeh took the delegation on a tour of the NSIB’s advanced facilities, reaffirming the Bureau’s readiness to collaborate in strengthening aviation safety standards.

Throughout his series of visits, CP Nwogoh consistently emphasized the importance of teamwork, operational excellence, and inter-agency collaboration in achieving a secure and efficient aviation environment.

His proactive outreach is expected to deepen trust, improve coordination, and ensure the sustained safety of Nigeria’s aviation sector.
