NSCDC Cooperative Society Debunks Rumour on Deductions

By Time Nigeria

The National President of the NSCDC Cooperative Society, Ahmed Pai has called on Personnel across the country and the various Cooperative heads at the State level to disregard rumours making round that the Commandant General is responsible for the non-remittance of the cooperative deductions for the past four months.

This is contained in a statement issued and signed by the Corps’ spokesperson, ACC Okeh Emmanuel made available to Time Nigeria.

According to the release, “Pai stressed that, the problem emanated from a new policy which requires the cooperative society to provide Tax Identification Number (TIN) before money can be paid into their account.

According to him, the society had no TIN number prior to this time, hence, the reason for the unexpected delay in payment of the cooperative deductions to member-bodies across state commands. However, it is pertinent to make it abundantly clear that the issue has been resolved and payment would be made any moment from now as the TIN number has been obtained.

The president reiterated that the Cooperative and Thrifts Society of the Corps is an independent body established through cooperative efforts of Personnel and managed by elected officials and not people appointed by the management, therefore, neither the Commandant General nor the Director of Finance is signatory to the Cooperative’s accounts.

Thus, the allegation against the Commandant General on the diversion of the co-operative society funds to pay non existing underground recruits is false, malicious and a figment of the imagination of the writer.

Furthermore, it is pertinent to place on record that the embattled ACG Meshack Igbiriki as described by the rumour mill has been reintegrated into the Corps as Assistant Commandant General in the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation at the Headquarters and he is in good terms with the Corps leadership against the backdrop of false allegation levelled against the Corps top Management.

The Commandant General however calls on the Personnel to disassociate themselves from any act inimical to the progress of the service.
