In a significant move towards improving food security and agricultural development, the Osun State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to innovative solutions that enhance the wellbeing of its people.
At a stakeholders’ meeting on Sustainable Quail Production, hosted at Obafemi Awolowo University, discussions centered on how quail farming can enhance human protein needs and contribute to food security.
The event, organized by the Faculty of Agriculture, OAU, brought together key stakeholders, academics, and policymakers to explore sustainable farming solutions.
The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Barr. Jola Akintola, represented by Mr. Afolabi Abiola,Osun State Food Safety Coordinator, underscoring the government’s focus on integrating agriculture with public health initiatives.
In the address, Mr. Afolabi emphasized the importance of alternative protein sources such as quail, noting their low environmental impact and economic benefits for small holder farmers.
He stated that quail farming aligns with Osun State’s broader goals of food security, poverty reduction, and sustainable agricultural growth.
Governor Adeleke’s administration continues to support agricultural innovation, and will ensure that projects like quail farming have the necessary backing to thrive and contribute to the state’s food security agenda.
