Oyo Partners Lomus, MOSWEF To Install Solar In 45 PHC Facilities

Oyo State Government has partnered with Lumos, Mosurat Olajumoke Sunmonu World Empowerment Foundation ( MOSWEF) and All-one to install solar power kits at forty five primary health care facilities across the state .

The kits which were provided by the partners and installed in both the local governments and local council developments areas of the state were done towards providing better health care services for the people of the state .

Oyo State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources , Barrister Seun Ashamu , while speaking at the commissioning of one of the projects in Ibadan north primary health care center, idi – Ogungun , said the mini solar kits provided will assist both the medical staff and non medicals at varoius centers to carry out their duties accordingly .

Barrister Ashamu , hinted that the eighty watt capacity kits will power up to ten bulbs, ten fans and vaccination fridge conveniently, thereby improving service delivery at the centers particularly at night .

The commissioner added that the ministry had embarked on piloting different energy sources in order to achieve energy security in the nooks and crannies of the state .

According to him , ” On the inception of His administration , Governor Seyi Makinde made it known that there were some sectors that were of important and health was one of these sectors “
” We are happy that the private sector and Non- Governmental Organisations ( NGOs) including Lumos and MOSWEF , believing in the vision of the ministry, answer our call and provided us with the solar kits that were used to light and fan forty – five primary health care centers in the state “

” We thank Lumos , MOSWEF and All – on for their support towards achieving the agenda of His Excellency , Governor Seyi Makinde ”

Ashamu, noted that the executive council of the state in the past months had approved a road map for the ministry including many of the projects and programmes already embarked on .

” The ministry is doing the needful and has a clear road map with a view to achieving its mandates “

In their separate remarks, the Chief Executive Officer , Lumos , Adepeju Adebajo , represented by Mr. Salami Isiaka and the representative of MOSWEF foundation Ahmed Ajayi , revealed that the provision of solar energy kits was aimed at supporting the State Government and the citizens of the state in enjoying quality health care especially the less privileged ones .

The duo , while appreciating the state government for mutual working relationship during the course of executing the project, reiterated the commitment of their organisations in the provision of solar energy to energy consuming sectors so as to boost the economy of the state .

Dignitaries present at the commissioning of the solar energy kits were : Caretaker Chairmen, Ibadan north local government , Hon. Waheed Akanbi , Hon. Adewale Oshoniyi of Aare – Latoosa local council development Area and Permanent Secretary , Ministry of energy and mineral resources , Mr. Segun Ajekiigbe.

Others included the Executive Secretary , Oyo State primary health care board , Dr. Muideen Olatunji and Dr. Monday Famakin amongst others .
