The Anambra State Police Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the abduction of a medical doctor at Uruagu, Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of the state.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred on Thursday, October 30, 2025, when unidentified gunmen reportedly whisked away the victim under yet-to-be-determined circumstances.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ikenga Tochukwu, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, MNIPS, PhD, has ordered an intensive operation to rescue the victim and apprehend the culprits behind the abduction.
“The Commissioner has directed all tactical teams of the Command to swing into action, ensuring the safe rescue of the victim and the arrest of those responsible,” SP Ikenga stated.
He added that the Command remains resolute in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring residents that every effort is being made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Meanwhile, the Command has appealed to members of the public, particularly residents of Nnewi and its environs, to remain calm and cooperate with security operatives by providing credible information that could assist ongoing investigations.
