The Rectors of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji and Osun State College of Technology, Esa-oke, Dr. Ademola Ebeloku and Dr. Samson Adegoke respectively, have hailed the Director of Physical Planning, Federal Polytechnic Ile-Oluji, QS Oyetunde Oyelola for his directorate’s consistency in organizing Annual Lecture Series.
The duo gave the commendation on Wednesday while speaking separately during the 8th Annual Lecture held at Twin Auditorium, Federal Polytechnic Ile-Oluji, Ondo State.
Dr. Ademola Ebeloku in his remarks commended the Directorate of Physical Planning for their consistency in organizing the annual event.
His words: “Let me also congratulate the Outgoing Director whose terminal leave will end anytime soon for a job well-done at the Directorate and also for initiating this event.
“Not only that, for also making sure that the Directorate is the sole organizer of the event.
“The reality now is that this will be the last Annual Lecture Series of the Directorate of Physical Planning that QS Oyetunde Oyelola will preside over. It may interest our guests to know that ever since the Directorate started this annual lecture series eight years ago, they have not at any point in time solicited for support from the management.
“Let me also use this medium to thank QS Oyetunde Oyelola for his commitment and dedication to the growth of this institution right from the inception. You have truly served the Polytechnic. May the Lord Almighty be with you and renew your strength.”
The Guest Speaker and Rector, Osun State College of Technology, Esa-oke, Dr. Samson Adegoke, while pouring encomium on Oyelola described him as a goal getter and visionary leader who has been his friend from their undergraduate days at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Dr. Adegoke in his lecture titled: “Leveraging outsourcing as a strategic option for infrastructure provision and efficient service delivery in Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria” said outsourcing has become a transformative solution to challenges of inadequate funding, decaying infrastructure and inefficient service delivery.
He stated that outsourcing benefits include cost savings, access to expertise and focus on core activities such as facility management.
“Institutions can focus on their core functions of teaching and research, leading to improved educational outcomes.
The Guest Speaker, however, cautioned against over dependence on vendors, release of sensitive data and potential conflicts of interest.
“In concluding, this paper has demonstrated the viability of outsourcing as a strategic option for infrastructure provision and efficient service delivery in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
“By leveraging outsourcing, Institutions can optimize resources, enhance operational efficiency, and improve service quality.
“This paper opined that outsourcing can be a game-changer for Nigerian tertiary institutions, enabling them to focus on their core academic mission while benefiting from specialized expertise and economies of scale.
“However, successful outsourcing requires careful planning, effective contract management, and a collaborative mindset. As the Nigerian higher education sector continues to evolve, embracing outsourcing as a strategic option can help institutions stay competitive, innovative and responsive to the needs of their students and Stakeholders.”
Earlier in his welcome address, QS Oyetunde Oyelola said the annual lecture series was initiated to create a forum for information exchange that are educative and ventilates the minds of audience towards the development of the construction industry as well as showcase importance of Physical Planning Directorate.
Oyelola while highlighting his achievements as Pioneer Director said his team supervised the completion of 28 projects, which include building, roads and water projects. He added that eight other projects are ongoing.
He used the opportunity to appreciate the Pioneer Rector of the Polytechnic, Prof. Emmanuel Fasakin and incumbent Rector, Dr Ademola Ebeloku for creating enabling environment for him to deliver quality jobs.
According to him, nobody can achieve success in isolation. The Governing Council, Rector, Registrar, Bursar, Directorate Staff, Polytechnic Community, Contractors, Artisans and others contributed to the success story of today.
Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of Award to QS Oyelola and some Contractors for their immense contributions to the Polytechnic Development by Chief Engineer, Olubunmi on behalf of the Directorate.
The Chairman of Local Organizing Committee, Engr Emmanuel Amipitan, appreciated Principal Officers, Deans, HODs and other guests for attending the 8th Annual Lecture Series.
