In a bid to foster a sense of national pride and unity, President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive for the mandatory recitation of the National Pledge after the National Anthem at all official engagements. The President reinforced the significance of citizens’ commitment to their country, as outlined in the National Pledge, and called on Nigerians to adopt a more positive mindset.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of 3,112 housing units at the Renewed Hope City in Karsana, Abuja, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of cultivating a favorable attitude towards Nigeria. He urged Nigerians to desist from constant negativity and embrace hope for the future.
Prior to the event, President Tinubu had requested a printout of the National Pledge, indicating the need to reestablish its significance. He highlighted that the relaunch symbolized the citizens’ dedication to the core values, greatness, and aspirations of the country. The President stressed the importance of being faithful, loyal, and honest, and serving Nigeria with unwavering commitment.
Using the recent victory of the Nigerian national football team as an example, President Tinubu expressed his belief that a positive and hopeful mindset would lead to success. While acknowledging that challenges may arise, he remained confident that Nigeria would excel in all areas of development.
Furthermore, he pledged to defend the country’s unity and uphold its glory, emphasizing the citizens’ collective responsibility as Nigerians.
President Tinubu’s call for the recitation of the National Pledge aims to instill a renewed sense of patriotism and optimism among Nigerians. By embodying the values espoused in the pledge, he hopes to inspire citizens to work towards a better future for Nigeria.
