By Ambassador Musa Muhammed Tsoken,
In the dynamic theatre of Nigerian politics, genuine loyalty is often scarce and trust even rarer. But the relationship between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Senator Dr. George Akume, CON, stands as an enduring example of political friendship anchored on mutual respect, unwavering belief, and a shared vision for a stronger Nigeria. Today, that relationship has not only reshaped governance at the highest level but is also positioning the administration for a decisive victory in the 2027 general elections.
Their alliance did not emerge by accident. It is a bond nurtured over three decades—dating back to the early 1990s—and strengthened through their years as state governors from 1999 to 2007. Through shifting alliances and the evolution of political parties, Akume and Tinubu remained aligned in purpose. The former Governor of Benue State played a strategic role in the formation of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2010—a party that would later evolve into the All Progressives Congress (APC), the platform that brought President Tinubu to power.
This shared political journey is driven by one core value: trust. Tinubu believes in Akume’s competence, commitment, and character—and he demonstrates that trust openly.
When President Tinubu appointed Senator Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation, it was more than a federal appointment—it was a reaffirmation of longstanding confidence. In this capacity, Akume has become the coordinating power behind the government’s administrative machinery, ensuring that the Renewed Hope Agenda is not just an idea but a visible transformation in the lives of Nigerians.
His role covers:
• Policy Coordination and Implementation:
Akume works tirelessly to ensure that the President’s reform-driven policies translate into service delivery, economic revival, and institutional strengthening.
• Advocacy and Public Engagement:
He defends bold reforms—such as subsidy rationalization and market-driven restructuring—while calling for patience and unity among citizens during the transition period.
• National Stability and Peacebuilding:
As a seasoned statesman and patriot, he continuously fosters cohesion between labour, government institutions, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and communities across the country.
Connecting the Vision to the Grassroots
Senator Akume firmly believes that national policy only succeeds when the grassroots is empowered. Through strategic initiatives and collaboration, he encourages civil society organizations, professionals, and political structures nationwide to rally around the Renewed Hope Agenda.
His engagement with organizations like the Asiwaju Again Renewed Hope Support Initiative 2027 (AARHI 2027) and the APC Initiative for Good Governance (APC-IGG) demonstrates a deliberate commitment to strengthening the political structures and public participation needed to ensure lasting success for the administration.
As part of this synergy, I—Ambassador Musa Muhammed Tsoken—have mobilized dynamic and credible grassroots actors, professors, traditional institutions, youth networks, and religious bodies across the six geopolitical zones to promote the ideals and progress of President Tinubu’s administration. Together, we are reinforcing the message that renewed hope must translate into renewed growth.
The Tinubu-Akume relationship is more than political history—it is a stabilizing force for Nigeria’s future. Akume’s maturity, federal experience, and loyal stewardship give the administration a strong backbone ahead of the 2027 elections. His effectiveness in the SGF office assures citizens that the President’s promises are not mere rhetoric but a plan in motion.
As Nigeria looks ahead, the harmony between President Tinubu and Senator Akume remains a compelling testament that leadership anchored on trust can deliver sustainable development—when service is genuine and alliances remain steadfast.
