Royal Presence Lights Up Abuja Wedding Reception as Traditional Ruler Honours Neighbour and Newlyweds

The wedding reception of Ndachana John Yahi and David Nkeki Bukar was elevated to a moment of cultural significance and communal pride with the distinguished attendance of His Royal Majesty, Eze-Igwe Williams Ezugwu and other traditional rulers.

The revered south east monarch, who holds the titles of Eze Ogbozarra III of Opi Ancient Kingdom, Igwe of Ibagwa Opi, and Eze Ka Eze I of Ideke land in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, graced the colourful reception held in Abuja in honour of the bride’s father—his neighbour—and the newly married couple.

The event, which followed a solemn church ceremony earlier in the day, drew family members, friends, and well-wishers from across the country. However, the presence of the royal fathers stood out, drawing admiration and underscoring the deep bonds of kinship and community that transcend geographical boundaries.

Dressed in regal traditional attire befitting his status, HRM Eze-Igwe Ezugwu was warmly received by guests and hosts alike. His attendance was widely interpreted as a gesture of honour and solidarity, particularly towards the bride’s father, with whom he shares a longstanding neighbourly relationship.

Speaking to our correspondent at the reception, the monarch offered prayers and royal blessings for the couple, wishing them a union marked by peace, prosperity, and enduring love. He also commended the families for upholding cultural values and fostering unity through the marriage.

Guests described the monarch’s presence as both symbolic and inspiring, noting that it added prestige and a sense of cultural continuity to the celebration.

The reception, held at the Rainbow Event Marquee in Garki, Abuja, featured music, dance, and goodwill messages, as the newlyweds were celebrated in grand style.
