As part of efforts geared towards promoting peace in the country, Community of Sant Egidio Nigeria visited Abuja School or the Blind where the children numbering 125 reaffirmed their commitment to be agents of peace.
The visit also provided opportunity for members of the organization to strike friendship with the visually impaired pupils.
It would be noted that Sant Egidio peace advocacy is unprecedented in the world today as Mozambique happens to be a beneficiary of the peace advocacy in Africa, among other countries of the world.
Speaking at the event, the Principal, Mrs. Regina Dung, while applauding the effort of Sant Egidio Nigeria, stressed the need for all and sundry to be agents of peace as it remains a veritable tool for national development.
Dung, who expressed joy over the items brought by the organization, further called on Nigerians to imbibe the culture of being their brother’s keeper, according to her, it would go a long way in making the society a better place.
On her part, the Vice Principal, Mrs. Ann Ekandem, who is also virtually impaired, called on well meaning individuals to come to their aid as the school lacks food stuffs.
The Youth For Peace Cordinator, Community of Sant Egidio Nigeria, Mr. Emmanuel Nkanta, told Our Correspondent that the Youth for Peace Solidarity Visit/Sounds for Peace with the visually impaired young persons at the F.C.T School of the blind was a success, adding ” We thank God for the opportunity to touch lives positively”.
According to him, the program was geared towards establishing friendship with the visually impaired and by so doing giving them hope and solace, adding “Our interaction with them shows they are full of potentials and instrument of peace as reflected in their wonderful piece instrument of Peace”.
He noted that rendition from the award winning Youth for peace tagged” Peace is the future” was also a call for all to be peace makers.
