The newly inaugurated University Summit, Offa, an Islamic faith-based University, would not discriminate either in employment or admission along ethnic, religious or political lines, its Proprietor, the Ansarud-deen Society of Nigeria has said.

Mustapha  Kadiri, the Senior Assistant Registrar of the University made this known to newsmen adding that “indeed, there are non-Muslims among the pioneer students who are currently enrolled in the University. Admission is open to Muslims, Christians and other religious groups as long as the candidates meet the admission requirements of the University”.

Kadiri described Summit University, Offa as the pride of Muslims everywhere, saying: “It is one of the few Islamic faith-based Universities.

“Knowledge is strongly emphasized by Islam as Muslims have contributed greatly to science and technological advancement of the world. Do not forget that Muslims Arabs led the world in the mathematics, medicine astronomy and even architecture at a period the for Europeans called the Dark Ages.

“Summit University, Offa is not only a blessing for Muslims, but, a blessing for Nigeria and indeed the world through world class teaching, research and service to the community”.

The Ansarud-deen Society got Provisional Licence to operate Summit University as a Private University in March 5, 2017 and commenced its first academic activities in March 6, 2017.

While speaking on mode of dressing in the school, Mustapha said the University has made it mandatory for every student to dress decently, saying: “Students are encouraged to be formally and decently dressed. Indecent dressing is not allowed.

“The Proprietor, Ansar-Ud- Deen Society of Nigeria is one of the oldest Islamic organizations in Nigeria which has remained consistent in providing education and propagating Islam in different parts of the country and even in a few countries abroad”, Kadiri said.

The Society that was formed in Lagos on 21 December 1923 by a group of young men – forty two in number to be precise – who wanted to promote the cause of education and ensure the nobility of the practice of their faith.

They deplored the prevalent ignorance of the times and wanted to enhance the status of their people by the pursuit of knowledge.

In their quest for education and nobility, they maintained good relationship with the traditional and religious leaders of the time, and enjoyed the support of the political authorities.
