Yahaya Seriki Commends Gov AbdulRazaq’s Strategic Investment Following Kwara United’s Federation Cup Triumph

1 Mins read

President/CEO of Kursi Investment and stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki-Gambari, has commended the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, over Kwara United’s historic victory in the 2025 President Federation Cup.

In a statement issued on Monday, Yahaya Seriki described Kwara United’s triumph over Abakaliki FC at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium in Lagos on Saturday as a direct result of Governor AbdulRazaq’s unwavering commitment and strategic investment in the state’s sports sector.

The Ilorin-born philanthropist and businessman, who had earlier pledged a sum of ten million naira (N10 million) to motivate the players ahead of the final match, noted that the governor’s visionary leadership has significantly transformed sports development in the state. He cited the comprehensive renovation of the Kwara State Stadium, the procurement of modern sporting facilities, and the improvement in staff welfare as instrumental factors that contributed to the team’s success.

Yahaya Seriki also lauded Governor AbdulRazaq for his personal sacrifice in attending the final match, despite his tight schedule, to boost the morale of the players. According to him, the Governor’s presence and support were vital in lifting the spirit of the team and inspiring them to victory.

He further praised the resilience, dedication, and fighting spirit of the Kwara United players and coaching crew, which he said led to breaking the long-standing jinx and securing a spot in the Continental Confederation Cup after several years.

In addition, Yahaya Seriki extended his commendation to the Kwara United U-19 team for clinching the Youth National League title on Sunday, describing it as a double victory for the state and a testament to the solid sports foundation laid by the current administration.

As part of the celebration, Kwarans will today, Monday, June 30, 2025, host Kwara United to a victory parade and banquet. The possession walk, which begins by 12:30 p.m. from Eiyekorin, will pass through major parts of Ilorin and terminate at the Banquet Hall, opposite the Kwara State Government House, where Governor AbdulRazaq and other top officials are expected to receive the champions.

Yahaya Seriki called on all Kwarans to come out en masse to celebrate the monumental achievement and honour the team for making the state proud.
