Sant Egidio Nigeria Emerges Winner of 2017 Sounds for Peace Contest

It was sea of excitement as Sant Egidio Nigeria is crowned the winner at the just concluded 2017 Sounds for Peace contest held in Rome.

 

Sound for Peace is designed to promote peace in Africa, Asia and South American countries through music.

 

According to the Country Representative of Sant Egidio Nigeria, Prince Henry Ezike, the competition is aimed at “changing the world through music. Young people love music and the community is using this means to spread the message of peace in young people so as to overcome social vices by engaging in meaningful activities”

 

Untuk Kits Semwa- Kupang Youth For Peace, Indonesia, as well as Faiz La Paiz, Burkina Faso and A Paze a Future Prospero, Guinea Bissau won the second, third and fourth positions respectively.

 

Speaking with Our Correspondent in Abuja, Nigeria, the Youth For Peace Coordinator of Sant Egidio Nigeria, Emmanuel Nkanta, noted “I am grateful to God for this great honour given to us; the Community of Sant Egidio, Nigeria to emerge as the Winner of the 2017 Sounds for Peace contest.”

 

The coordinator also expressed gratitude to the International Community of Sant’ Egidio “for giving us this platform to explore our God-Given Potentials and the channel to promote peace through music.”

 

According to Nkanta, this victory means a lot to us as a Community most especially the Youth for Peace. “The journey to this victory started about two years ago as reflected in our previous entries and motivation from our Responsible Prof. Jan De Volder. I dedicate this award to the members of the Youth for Peace, Nigeria.”

 

He maintained that preparations for the contest was a collective one composed of hard work, dedication and God’s guidance most especially on the side of the Youth for Peace, Nyanya through the coordination of Judith Akor and the Abuja Town Community through the facilitation of Prince Henry Ezike.

 

Nkanta further added that the victory is a motivational call on Young People to Work for Peace, adding that “the lyrics, style, arrangement and production of this Award Winning Song was driven by the passion to work for peace as Peace Makers”

 

Congratulating Sant Egidio Nigeria for the feat achieved, the organizers, noted that the Youth for Peace, Nigeria, fully embody the themes of the contest, by producing an addictive, viral and popular music, well performed and arranged.
