The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 520 personnel to Abuja – Kaduna routes to beef up security for air passengers coming to Kaduna Airport following the temporary closure of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.
In a statement signed by the Head, Corps’ Public Relations Officer, ACC Emamanuel Okeh said the General of the Corps, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu said apart from the deployment of personnel, the Corps has set up 15 out posts covering Bwari-Jere-Kaduna, Zuba-Kaduna, Gwagwalada, Giri -Zuba- Kaduna axis respectively.
Complementing the efforts of its personnel, the Corps has equally deployed 105 sniffer dogs, stationed ambulances at the major routes in case of emergency situation and procured Hillux vehicles in addition to the existing ones for surveillance patrol.
According to Gana, “the deployment is with immediate effect based on the outcome of the meeting held with the Inspector General of Police at the Force Headquarters on the need for re-strategising, synergising and beefing up security along the Kaduna routes”.
He charged the Corps personnel to remain transparently committed, dogged and develop passion for the job as their welfare is paramount and guaranteed.
He urged them to collaborate, cooperate and work in synergy with all other sister agencies assigned for the operation to clamp down on persons with clandestine and sinister motives in the interest of peace and national security.
The CG seized the opportunity to admonish personnel across the commands to work harmoniously with personnel of sister agencies to be at peace with them and avoid inter agency rivalry as all the services are working towards achieving the same objective of providing security and ensuring peaceful atmosphere.
The Corps helmsman further assured the government and the populace that the Corps will work assiduously in ensuring that adequate security is put in place to protect the masses and the infrastructure within and around Kaduna routes as well as the nation at large.
