1 Mins read

The PATRIOTS, in partnership with the Nigerian Political Summit Group (NPSG), announce the successful conclusion of the National Summit on the Future of Nigeria’s Constitutional Democracy, which held from Wednesday, July 16 to Thursday, July 17, 2025, in Abuja.

Following the formal adoption of summit resolutions on Thursday, Che Olawale Okunniyi, Head of the Summit Joint Secretariat, expressed profound appreciation to all delegates, stakeholders, and participants who contributed to the landmark event, both in-person and virtually. He commended their commitment to advancing a people-driven, democratic future for Nigeria.

In continuation of the summit process, the organisers have scheduled a press conference and communiqué presentation for Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall, NICON LUXURY Hotel, Abuja. Members of the media are cordially invited to attend this event, which will feature the public presentation of the summit’s comprehensive communiqué.

The now concluded summit was a historic gathering of some of Nigeria’s most respected elder statesmen, eminent leaders, ex-governors, national icons, captains of industry, civic leaders, and institutional stakeholders. Convened in response to the urgent need to reimagine and reconstruct Nigeria’s constitutional order, the summit served as a unifying platform to lay the foundation for a new democratic people’s constitution that genuinely reflects the will, diversity, and aspirations of Nigerians.

Under the distinguished leadership of His Excellency, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, GCON, CFR, former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth and Chairman of The PATRIOTS, the summit benefited from the depth, wisdom, and commitment of key national figures and reform-minded leaders.

Working together with the Nigerian Political Summit Group, the conveners brought unmatched credibility, national reach, and experience to the task of rethinking and transforming Nigeria’s governance architecture.

The PATRIOTS and NPSG extend their heartfelt gratitude to all institutions, organisations, civil society actors, development partners, traditional rulers, the youth, and the media for their invaluable support. The successful conclusion of the summit marks a major step forward in the national quest for a more inclusive, federal, and accountable constitutional democracy.
