The District Head of Kalshingi in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Magaji, has pledged his full support and cooperation to the White Paper Implementation Committee to ensure the successful execution of its mandate.
The traditional ruler gave the assurance while receiving the Chairman of the committee, retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Sunday Babaji, and members of the committee during a courtesy visit to his palace.
Speaking during the meeting, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Magaji expressed concern over the encroachment on designated routes and the alleged illegal sale of land by unauthorized individuals.
He alleged that several plots of land between Kalshingi and Kwadon had been sold to unsuspecting buyers by persons without the legal authority to do so, urging the committee to investigate the matter thoroughly, ensure justice, and put an end to the illegal practice.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the White Paper Implementation Committee, retired AIG Sunday Babaji, reaffirmed the commitment of the Gombe State Government under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to implementing the committee’s recommendations and promoting justice, particularly in addressing farmer-herder conflicts across the state.
Babaji urged farmers and herders to embrace peaceful coexistence, stressing that lasting development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, unity, and mutual understanding.
He also warned individuals involved in the illegal sale of land to desist from the practice and advised prospective land buyers to acquire property only through the appropriate legal channels to avoid future disputes and financial losses.
Also speaking, the Deputy Chairman of the Akko North Local Council Development Area, Jungudo Muhammad Baba, expressed confidence that the committee’s work would contribute significantly to reducing conflicts between farmers and herders in the area.
He assured the committee of the support and cooperation of the Akko Local Government Council and commended the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for its sustained peacebuilding efforts and ongoing developmental projects across Gombe State.
