…Urges Nigerian Youths to Shun Thuggery, Crime as 2027 Elections Approach
The President/Chief Executive Officer of Funab Group of Companies Limited and Dan Amanan Fune Emirate of Yobe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia, Ph.D., has felicitated with the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of Eidul Maolud 1448 AH, calling for renewed prayers for peace, security, economic prosperity and sustainable development.
Ajia, a security expert and former police officer who has consistently advocated stronger community participation in the fight against insecurity, urged Muslims to use the commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as an opportunity to reflect deeply on his teachings of peace, justice, compassion, honesty, tolerance and respect for human life.
In a goodwill message issued to mark the occasion, Ajia described the birth of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as one of the most significant events in human history, saying his life and teachings continue to provide humanity with a divine model for peaceful coexistence, responsible leadership and social justice.
He called on Muslims to pray for the intervention and mercy of Almighty Allah through the blessings of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW), particularly at a time when the world is confronted by wars, terrorism, political instability, humanitarian crises, poverty and other challenges threatening global peace.
According to him, the enduring message of the Prophet (SAW) remains a powerful reminder that humanity must choose peace over violence, reconciliation over vengeance, justice over oppression and compassion over hatred.
Ajia said the most meaningful way to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is not merely through ceremonies and expressions of love, but by sincerely emulating his life, character and Sunnah.
He urged Muslims to demonstrate genuine love for Rasulullah (SAW) by allowing his teachings to influence their conduct at home, in business, politics, leadership and their relationships with fellow citizens.
He said the Prophet’s exemplary life provided a timeless model of honesty, accountability, mercy, patience, forgiveness, justice, courage and service to humanity.
“True love for Rasulullah (SAW) must be demonstrated through our willingness to emulate his character and Sunnah in every aspect of our lives. The best celebration of his blessed birth is to live by the values he taught humanity and to become instruments of peace, justice, compassion and development,” he said.
Ajia Seeks Divine Intervention for Nigeria.
The businessman and security expert called for special prayers for Nigeria, particularly for divine intervention in the country’s security situation.
He prayed for an end to terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, communal violence, armed robbery and other forms of criminality, while urging Nigerians to support security agencies with credible information and responsible community participation.
Ajia, whose academic and professional interests have included community policing and national security, has previously argued that tackling insecurity requires collective responsibility and stronger cooperation between communities and security institutions.
He therefore urged Nigerians to regard security as a shared national responsibility, stressing that government agencies alone cannot successfully defeat violent criminal networks without the cooperation of citizens and communities.
He also prayed for the safety and protection of members of the armed forces, police and other security agencies who continue to risk their lives in the service of the nation.
Ajia prayed that Almighty Allah would grant President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, state governors and other leaders the wisdom, courage and capacity required to confront the nation’s security challenges and advance the welfare of the people.
The Funab Group chief executive also prayed for accelerated economic recovery, sustainable growth and inclusive development in Nigeria.
He called for policies and initiatives that would create opportunities for businesses, entrepreneurs, farmers, professionals and young Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to national development.
Ajia stressed that Nigeria’s enormous human and natural resources could be transformed into sustainable prosperity if the country remains committed to productive enterprise, responsible governance, investment, innovation and economic diversification.
He urged Nigerians to remain patient and constructive while supporting legitimate efforts aimed at strengthening the economy, creating jobs and improving living standards.
Recent public engagements by Ajia have similarly focused on national security, economic reforms and the need for Nigerians to look beyond political differences in confronting the country’s challenges.
With the 2027 general elections approaching, Ajia particularly appealed to Nigerian youths to reject political thuggery, cultism, drug abuse, internet fraud, kidnapping, armed robbery and every other form of crime and criminality.
He urged young Nigerians not to allow themselves to be used as instruments of violence by politicians or other individuals seeking to exploit political differences for personal interests.
According to him, Nigerian youths constitute the country’s greatest demographic asset and must therefore be empowered to become productive entrepreneurs, professionals, innovators, farmers, artisans, community leaders and responsible participants in democratic processes.
“Politics must never become a justification for violence. No political ambition is worth the life of a Nigerian youth. Our young people must refuse to be recruited as political thugs or instruments of destruction. The future belongs to them, and they must protect that future through education, skills, enterprise, innovation and responsible citizenship,” Ajia said.
He urged political leaders across party lines to place the interests of the nation above personal ambition and to ensure that the 2027 electoral process is characterised by issue-based campaigns, tolerance, peaceful engagement and respect for the rule of law.
Ajia said political differences should never destroy relationships, communities or the unity of the country, urging Nigerians to remember that elections come and go while the nation remains.The APC chieftain also appealed to political parties, candidates, supporters and electoral stakeholders to approach the 2027 elections with maturity and patriotism.
He urged politicians to campaign on ideas, programmes and measurable solutions to Nigeria’s challenges rather than resorting to hate speech, ethnic mobilisation, religious intolerance, misinformation or violence.
Ajia has recently intensified political consultations and grassroots engagements in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 elections, including efforts aimed at strengthening political structures and mobilising stakeholders.
He stressed, however, that the country’s peace and stability must remain greater than every political interest.
Beyond Nigeria, Ajia called on Muslims to pray for an end to wars, terrorism, persecution and humanitarian crises around the world.
He prayed particularly for innocent civilians, women, children, displaced persons and vulnerable communities affected by conflicts, asking Almighty Allah to bring relief to those experiencing suffering and restore peace to troubled regions.
He appealed to world leaders to embrace dialogue, justice, reconciliation and peaceful resolution of conflicts, stressing that humanity cannot achieve sustainable development in an atmosphere of war and hatred.
Ajia further prayed for the Muslim Ummah across the world, asking Allah to strengthen Muslims in faith, grant peace to their homes and communities and accept their acts of worship.
Message to Muslim Ummah
The Dan Amanan Fune urged Muslims to make the occasion of Eidul Maolud a moment of spiritual renewal, family bonding, compassion and service to humanity.
He encouraged Muslims to remember the less privileged, support widows, orphans and vulnerable members of society and extend acts of kindness beyond the Maolud celebration.
He said the greatest legacy Muslims can preserve from the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is the commitment to righteousness, peace, justice, compassion and service to humanity.
Ajia prayed that Almighty Allah would accept the worship and prayers of Muslims, protect Nigeria from insecurity, grant the nation economic prosperity, bless its leaders with wisdom, strengthen its security agencies, and guide Nigerian youths towards productive and meaningful lives.
He also prayed for peace in Nigeria and across the world, asking Almighty Allah to heal the wounded, comfort the bereaved, protect the vulnerable, deliver those facing hardship and guide humanity towards justice, reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.
He wished the Muslim Ummah a peaceful, spiritually rewarding and blessed Eidul Maolud 1448 AH.
