The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Kwara 2027 Governorship Election and Speaker Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Salihu Yakubu Danladi fondly called SYD on Saturday turned the annual Gani Festival in Gwanara, Baruten local government to carnival with excited Kwara Northerners chanting SYD! SYD!! Ciroma!!!
The arrival of Danladi to the venue of the Gani Festival on Saturday October 3, 2026 changed the atmosphere with thousands of attendees lined up to form ‘a Guard of honour’ for the APC governorship candidate.
SYD’s emergence has energised the APC and communities across Kwara North as they see him as the Vista of Hope to end 33 years of waiting to occupy the exalted number one seat of the State of Harmony.
In seven years as Speaker House of Assembly, he has supritend the enactment of lifechanging laws, including KWASSIP, and faciliated federal school, completion of 33km Ilesha-Baruba Gwanara road, renovation of schools and primary health centres in Baruten LGA to deepen socio-economic development of the district.
Beyond politics, Speaker Danladi is also receiving royal recognition with his announcement as the Ciroma of Gwanara by His Royal Highness Alh. (Dr.) Sabi Idris Abdullahi OFR, Kotokotogi II, the Emir of Gwanara.
The APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Hon Seun Ogunniyi, National Assembly Candidates, Kwara State House of Assembly members and local government chairmen across the state graced the event.
