Coalition for Good Governance, made up of 23 deregistered political parties in Nigeria has urged the federal government to ensure the provision of an enabling environment, security and avoid any form of impediments party supporters who wish to freely assemble for the purpose of holding political rallies for the candidate of their choice throughout this campaign season in the country.
In a press release signed by the chairman of the group, Engineer Okey Chikwendu and the publicity Secretary, Don Tony Harmattan, the group reiterated the need for Nigerians to be allowed to exercise their Democratic franchise by freely carrying out their campaign and support for the presidential candidate of their choice without any form of intimidation, harassment or disruption of their campaign activities in any form.
Among members of the group were some former party national chairmen, presidential candidates and Civil society organisations as they called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to prune itself of any attempt at rigging the 2023 elections or disfranchise some parts of the country from voting during the election as that would portend great danger to the cooperate existence of the country. The Coalition emphatically stated that they have solidly given their support for the presidential candidacy of Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party and his running mate, Datti Baba Ahmed based on their capacity to usher in a new Nigeria where citizens are provided with security, employment, prosperity, Unity and peaceful coexistence among all ethic groups that made up Nigeria.
They further urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in the struggle and uncompromising to the tricks of dubious contenders in the 2023 presidential race and work hard to save the future of the country. The Coalition however appreciated all Nigerians who have continued to pour out on mass to join the obidient movement across the country which has proven that nigerian have made their clear choice on the presidential candidacy of Mr. Peter Obi and Datti Baba Ahmed to become the next Nigeria president, come 2023.
“Our support for Obi and Ahmed is because of their impeccable credentials of good economic managers and their past records which Nigerians now look upon to return the country as the production hub of Africa”, CGC stated.
