Against the Odds: Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Marches On

By Amb. Muhammed Tsoken,

In the turbulent journey of nation-building, true leaders are forged not in times of ease, but in the crucible of adversity. Nigeria, a nation of boundless potential yet beset by multifaceted challenges, finds itself at a critical juncture under the stewardship of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. As articulated by Ambassador Musa Muhammed Tsoken, National Coordinator of the Asiwaju Again Renewed Hope Support Initiative 2027 and National President of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Initiative For Good Governance (APC-IGG), the security challenges confronting the country—often suspected to be sponsored or amplified by enemies of progress—must not deter but energize the administration to accelerate its transformative Renewed Hope Agenda. This agenda is poised to augment Nigeria’s economy, rescue the nation from insecurity and other ills, and propel it towards sustainable development and victory.

The Shadows of Engineered Insecurity: Challenges Sponsored by Enemies of Progress
Nigeria’s security landscape remains complex, marked by persistent threats from banditry, insurgency (including remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP in the Northeast), farmer-herder conflicts, kidnappings, and separatist agitations in various regions. These issues have deep roots, exacerbated by decades of underinvestment, porous borders, socio-economic disparities, and, crucially, alleged external and internal sabotage.

Critics and supporters alike point to patterns suggesting that some destabilizing forces—political opponents, vested interests opposed to reforms, or even external actors—may be sponsoring or exploiting these insecurities to undermine national progress. Ransoms in the billions, attacks on farmers disrupting food production, and targeted violence in key economic zones appear designed to erode public confidence, hinder investment, and stall the wheels of governance. Such acts are not mere criminality; they represent a calculated assault on the Nigerian project by those who fear a strong, self-reliant Nigeria.

Yet, President Tinubu has prioritized national security as a cornerstone of the Renewed Hope Agenda. Investments in defense, intelligence coordination, and community engagement have yielded measurable reductions in certain threats, with reports noting declines in kidnappings and improved military operations. The administration’s long-term Counter-Terrorism Strategic Plan (2025-2030) signals a shift from reactive measures to proactive, holistic strategies addressing root causes like poverty, unemployment, and ungoverned spaces.

Ambassador Tsoken’s message resonates powerfully here: these challenges should not weaken resolve but galvanize it. By confronting insecurity head-on while implementing economic reforms that reduce the appeal of criminality (through job creation and empowerment), the President demonstrates that security and development are intertwined.

The Renewed Hope Agenda: A Bold Blueprint for National Renewal
Launched as a comprehensive eight-point vision, the Renewed Hope Agenda focuses on reforming the economy for sustained inclusive growth, enhancing security, boosting agriculture and food security, investing in infrastructure, developing human capital, diversifying the economy, improving governance, and ensuring energy security.

This is not rhetoric but a pragmatic roadmap to rescue Nigeria from historical distortions—fuel subsidy scams that drained trillions, multiple exchange rates fostering corruption, and over-reliance on oil.

President Tinubu’s bold decisions from day one, including the declaration that “fuel subsidy is gone” and the unification of the foreign exchange market, have begun reshaping the economic landscape.

Credible Policies and Achievements Driving Nigeria Forward
Despite short-term pains from necessary reforms, tangible gains are emerging, validating the agenda’s direction:
Economic Stabilization and Revenue Surge: Government revenues have more than doubled in key periods, with federal revenues up significantly in 2024. External reserves have strengthened to around $45 billion or higher, clearing backlogs and boosting investor confidence. Trade surpluses reached impressive figures like N7.55 trillion in Q1 2026, with capital inflows rising. GDP growth has shown positive annualized trends, signaling recovery.

Fiscal Discipline and Tax Reforms: Landmark tax reforms aim to protect the vulnerable, encourage enterprise, and enhance transparency. Fuel subsidy removal has freed up resources (estimated savings of trillions annually) redirected to infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social investments. States now have more funds for development due to improved federation account remittances.

Agriculture and Food Security: A state of emergency on food security has driven initiatives to boost production, tackle rising prices, and support farmers against insecurity. Partnerships under Renewed Hope address hunger and promote self-sufficiency.

Infrastructure and Energy: Power generation has hit record levels (over 6,000 MW in milestones), with renewed focus on roads, railways, and housing. The agenda emphasizes energy security to power industrialization.

Social Investments and Human Capital: Programs like student loans, consumer credit, empowerment for women and vulnerable groups (via Renewed Hope Initiative), and skills training are reaching millions. Initiatives for the elderly, persons with disabilities, and grassroots support underscore inclusivity.

Investment and Diversification: Policies have attracted significant interest, quadrupled stock market value in some reports, and promoted non-oil sectors. Manufacturing and digital economy pushes are underway, though challenges like energy costs persist.

These achievements reflect a administration confronting reality with honesty, as President Tinubu has emphasized. Reforms are stabilizing the macroeconomy, even as inflation and living costs remain concerns requiring continued mitigation.

A Call to Stand Tall:

Delivering Victory for Nigeria
To President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR: The enemies of progress may sponsor chaos, amplify hardships, and sow discord, but your Renewed Hope Agenda is the antidote. History will remember not those who faltered under pressure, but leaders who stood tall, made tough choices, and delivered lasting transformation.
Continue to strengthen security through technology, community policing, and inter-agency synergy while addressing socio-economic drivers. Accelerate economic diversification, protect local industries, and ensure reforms translate to visible relief for the masses—cheaper food, affordable energy, jobs, and safety. Leverage successes in revenue generation and reserves to cushion vulnerabilities and invest in critical infrastructure.

Nigeria’s resilience is legendary. Under your leadership, with the support of APC loyalists, grassroots movements like the Asiwaju Again Renewed Hope Support Initiative, and patriotic citizens, the country is poised for victory. The path to a prosperous, secure, and united Nigeria demands perseverance, but the foundations are being laid.

As Ambassador Musa Muhammed Tsoken affirms, let these challenges energize you to do more. The Renewed Hope is not just a slogan—it is the dawn of a new Nigeria. Forward ever! With lieutenant like Sen Dr George Akume CON Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, and other powerful elements of progress in this administration, we shall surmount all challenges and Nigeria greatness is sure without doubt Insha Allah.

This article is an exclusive contribution inspired by the patriotic stance of Ambassador Musa Muhammed Tsoken and dedicated supporters of good governance.
