The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has flagged off a nationwide initiative to distribute two million packs of sanitary towels, alongside school bags and essential learning materials, to girls in public basic education schools across Nigeria.

The initiative, tagged Flow with Confidence 2.0, was launched as part of activities marking the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child, celebrated under the global theme, “End Child Marriage and Invest in Girls’ Rights!”

The programme aims to promote menstrual health and hygiene, boost girls’ confidence and reduce barriers to school attendance and participation. The nationwide distribution is intended to support girls with essential menstrual hygiene products and educational supplies, helping them remain in school and pursue their education with dignity and confidence.

The launch ceremony featured the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, as Special Guest of Honour, alongside government officials, education stakeholders, traditional rulers, development partners and students.
