 Ajia Reiterates Commitments to Youth, Sports Development

The PDP House of Representatives candidate for Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia has reiterated his commitment to grassroots sports development in the state.

Ajia made this known while presenting the medals to the winners at the final match of the Youngest Football Stars Competition held in the Kwara State Stadium Complex on Sunday in Ilorin.

During the presentation, the House of Reps candidate encouraged the young talents to keep working hard, remain focused, and ensure they stay off drugs and other social vices that can jeopardise their future.

According to him, “Grassroots sports development is one of my areas of priorities, if given the necessary support, it is very lucrative because, it keeps our youth engaged productively and can be a means of livelihood to many”.

Ajia said, “Recently, I visited Europe and had discussions with scouting agents with a view to secure a better place for our talented youths in areas of sports and more importantly football. Scouts are looking for good footballers from Nigeria and we have the talent abound in the state. I want to assure you that, I will bring them to the Kwara to ensure our talents are well harnessed”.

The security expert further assured them of his readiness to ensure their potentials are properly harnessed so that their dreams can come to reality, he said.

Earlier, the chairman of the occasion Alhaji Ladimeji Faagba while delivering his address noted that it is a yearly competition to promote grassroots football development.

He explained further that the competition has being of significant impact to both the athletes and the state as four promising athletes have been scouted and selected for Kwara United among many other opportunities.

The organisers also presented a medal to Ajia for his immense contributions to youth emancipation and sports development at the grassroots level in the stare.
