Ajia to be Turbaned as _Dan Amana_ of Fune Emirate for Outstanding Philanthropy, Loyalty and National Service

As part of activities marking the 25th anniversary, on the throne, of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr. Saleh Ibn Uthman, the Emir of Fune Emirate, the President and Chief Executive Officer of FUNAB Group of Companies Limited, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia, will be turbaned as the _Dan Amana_ of Fune Emirate. The turbaning is in recognition of his unwavering loyalty, philanthropic gestures, and meritorious service to the Emirate and Nigeria at large.

This was made known in a statement issued on Thursday by Malam Abdulrahman Aliagan, Director of Communications to Alhaji Ajia.

According to the statement, the turbaning ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Emir’s Palace in Damagum, the headquarters of Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The event is part of a grand celebration of the Emir’s silver jubilee on the throne, which will include a special prayer on Friday, June 27, and the wedding ceremony of the children of the Deputy Governor of Yobe State, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune) on Saturday, June 28.

The Emir of Fune, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Saleh Ibn Uthman, described Alhaji Ibrahim Ajia as “a dependable, selfless, and humble personality whose contributions to Fune Emirate have been consistent and impactful over the years.” He noted that the title _Dan Amana_ , which literally means ‘Custodian of Trust,’ is reserved for individuals who have proven to be trustworthy, loyal, and committed to the growth of the community.

Ajia’s relationship with the Fune Emirate dates back to his days as Security Aide to the late Governor of Yobe State, Senator Mamman B. Ali, of blessed memory. During that period, he served as a vital link between the Emir of Fune and the Governor, ensuring direct and unfettered communication. Ajia’s deep sense of duty, respect for traditional institutions, and support for the emirate’s development initiatives earned him a special place in the heart of the palace, Further strengthening his bond with Fune Emirate,

Alhaji Ajia also served as Aide-de-Camp to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), H.E. Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, GCON, who himself holds the title of Barde of Fune.

Ajia is known and loved by the Fune Emirate for his exceptional patriotism, generosity, and leadership, both while in public service and now in the private sector.

The Emirate is full of praises for Ajia for his nationwide philanthropic gestures, particularly his interventions in education, health, youth empowerment, and humanitarian causes. He has supported orphans, widows, students, and vulnerable communities without prejudice to tribe, religion, or geography.

The 25th-anniversary celebration is expected to attract over 30 royal fathers and eminent personalities, including: His Royal Highness, Dr. Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, the Shehu of Borno, Shehu Garbai Alamin El-Kanemi, the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmad Nuhu Bamali, the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwan Suleiman Adamu and the Emir of Lafia, Justice Idris Barde Muhammed(rtd)

The Special Guest of Honour is the Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni (CON), who also holds the title Chiroma of Gurba and Sardauna of Fune, while the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, the Wazirin Fune, will serve as Guest of Honour.

The statement concluded that “the turbaning of Alhaji Ibrahim Ajia as Dan Amana is not just a personal honour but a celebration of patriotism, loyalty, and service to Nigeria. calling on friends, well-wishers, and associates to join the Fune Emirate in celebrating a man whose life has been a shining example of selfless service, dedication, and humility.
