The APC–Initiative for Good Governance (APC-IGG) has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing its National Coordinator, Ambassador Muhammed Musa Tsoken, as the Secretary to the Federal Character Commission (FCC).

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Professors’ Wing of the Initiative, Prof. Prince Michael Ikupolati, the group described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition that reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to merit, competence, and inclusive governance.

The APC-IGG extended special gratitude to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Dr. George Akume, for his pivotal role in facilitating the appointment. The statement acknowledged the SGF’s steadfast support, describing him as a man of proven integrity in the political space and a towering figure in Nigeria’s civil service with a wide spectrum of experience.

Ambassador Tsoken himself credited much of his political growth to Senator Akume’s mentorship, noting that he aspires to emulate the SGF’s exemplary qualities—particularly his fairness, humility, and unbiased approach in dealing with humanity.

Ambassador Tsoken, a seasoned politician and public servant, brings to the FCC a rich blend of academic and professional credentials. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education with honors and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Human Security and Counter-Terrorism at Taraba State University, Jalingo. He is also a Fellow of Public Policy Analysis (FPPA), underscoring his expertise in leadership, management, and policy formulation.

His career spans politics, law, and community service. He currently serves as Litigation Secretary at Vineyard Chambers of Legal Practitioners, Wukari/Jalingo—a reputable law firm led by Hon. Barr. Istifanus Haruna Gbana, former Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly and former Chairman of the Forum of State Legislative Speakers of Nigeria. His political journey dates back to the early 1990s when he served as Secretary of SDP/MKO Abiola in Puje Ward, Wukari LGA. He also contested for the Taraba State House of Assembly in 2011 under the CPC platform.

In his remarks following the appointment, Ambassador Tsoken expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu, the APC leadership, and especially to Senator Akume for entrusting him with such a critical national responsibility. He pledged to serve diligently and transparently, upholding the sanctity of good governance to ensure that justice, equity, and good conscience reign supreme in the operations of the Federal Character Commission.

“This appointment is a call to greater service,” he said. “I will work tirelessly to justify the confidence reposed in me, ensuring that the Commission remains a bastion of fairness and inclusivity in our great nation.”
