APC-IGG Mourns Former President Muhammadu Buhari, Describes Him as a Father Figure, Patriot

1 Mins read

The All Progressives Congress Initiative for Good Governance (APC-IGG) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a selfless leader, a patriotic statesman, and a father figure whose legacy will forever be remembered in Nigeria’s democratic journey.

In a heartfelt condolence message released in Abuja, the National Coordinator of APC-IGG, Ambassador Muhammed Musa Tosken, recounted his personal and political relationship with the late President, describing him as an approachable and principled leader who remained consistent in character both in and out of office.

“We were together in the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in 2011. I contested for the Taraba State House of Assembly seat (Wukari II Constituency), while he ran for President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the same platform. I met him one-on-one during the CPC National Convention, and from that moment, he never ceased to answer my calls — whether before, during, or after his eight-year tenure as President,” Tosken recalled with emotion.

Tosken described Buhari’s unwavering humility and loyalty to allies and party faithful as a rare trait in contemporary politics. “His simplicity, discipline, and dedication to the cause of good governance inspired the formation of APC-IGG during his administration in 2011. He was not just our President; he was a mentor and a symbol of integrity.”

APC-IGG, a political support group founded during Buhari’s presidency, has continued to promote the core values of transparency, accountability, and patriotism championed by the late leader.

The group extended its condolences to the Buhari family, the government and people of Katsina State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the entire APC political family.

“May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus. Nigeria has indeed lost a rare gem,” Tosken concluded.
