The Chairman and Founder of Ashraaf Islamic Foundation, Imam (Dr.) Sharafudeen Abdulsalam Aliagan, has extended heartfelt Ramadan greetings to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and across the globe, urging them to take full advantage of the sacred month to strengthen their faith and seek divine blessings.
In a statement signed by the Director of Communications and Information, Malam Abdulrahman Aliagan made available to journalists, Saturday in Abuja.
Imam (Dr.) Aliagan described Ramadan as a period of spiritual purification, self-discipline, and renewal, as emphasized in the Holy Qur’an: “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.”
He called on Muslims to seek Allah’s intervention in Nigeria’s socioeconomic and political affairs, noting that the challenges facing the country require divine guidance and wisdom for its leaders to make the right decisions.
He reminded leaders of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) guidance on leadership, quoting: “The best of leaders among you are those whom you love and who love you in return, who pray for you and for whom you pray.”
He urged Muslims to use Ramadan as an opportunity to pray for Nigeria’s peace, unity, and progress, saying:
“This is a time for deep reflection and prayers. As we observe fasting and engage in acts of worship, let us remember our beloved country in our supplications. May Almighty Allah grant Nigeria peace, unity, and prosperity. May He guide our leaders to govern with justice and sincerity, and bless our people with harmony and progress.”
Furthermore, Imam Aliagan stressed the importance of love, tolerance, and charity, highlighting that Ramadan is not only about personal devotion but also about strengthening communal bonds and fostering peaceful coexistence.
He referenced the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) teaching on kindness, which states: “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.”
The Ashraaf Islamic Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Islamic teachings, social justice, and national development, encouraging Muslims to engage in acts of goodness that uplift their communities and the nation at large.
Imam (Dr.) Aliagan concluded by praying for the general well-being of the Muslim Ummah, invoking the words of the Prophet (PBUH): “O Allah, set right my nation, for it is weak. O Allah, guide my people, for they know not.”
He prayed for health, guidance, and abundant rewards for all those who observe Ramadan with sincerity and devotion.
