The Kuliya of the Ilorin Emirate, Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, has called on Muslims across Nigeria not to abandon the lessons of Ramadan, but to sustain its values in their daily lives beyond the holy month.

In his Eid-el-Fitr message, Prof Ali emphasised that the spiritual gains of Ramadan, rooted in sacrifice, discipline, and devotion, should not fade with its conclusion…..

He urged the faithful to uphold the virtues of generosity, forgiveness, and good neighbourliness, noting that these principles define true Islamic living.

“The message I will pass to all Muslims in Nigeria is that we should not allow all the lessons, messages, and sacrifices of the noble month to go with Ramadan.

“The spirit of giving, forgiveness, and being good Muslims, as well as being our neighbours’ keepers, should continue beyond Ramadan,” he said.

The respected legal luminary also offered prayers for peace and stability in Nigeria, expressing concern over the persistent challenges of insecurity, including banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency.

He appealed for divine intervention to restore tranquillity across the country.

“My prayers for Nigeria is for this country to be peaceful. Those who are causing problems through criminality, banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency, we pray that Allah intervenes in their affairs and brings lasting peace,” he added.

Prof Ali further stressed that peace remains the foundation for national development, noting that meaningful progress can only thrive in a secure and stable environment.

According to him, a peaceful society will enable citizens to draw closer to Almighty Allah and foster collective prosperity.

Addressing Nigerian youth, he urged them to imbibe the enduring spirit of Ramadan as a pathway to moral uprightness and self-restraint.

He identified cyber fraud (commonly known as “Yahoo Yahoo”), cultism, and drug abuse as major challenges confronting young people, expressing optimism that adherence to Islamic values would help curb these social vices.

“If the youth imbibe the spirit of Ramadan, the problems of Yahoo Yahoo, cultism, and drug addiction will be greatly reduced,” he said.

The Kuliya of Ilorin further offered prayers for sustained peace, improved security, and renewed commitment to righteousness across the nation.
