Christians have been urged to remember and pray for divine intervention from God to put an end to security challenges bedeviling the nation.

Chief Olayinka Segelu Akintola Oladimeji made the call in his message at Anglican Christian Fellowship, St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Ayekale, Ibadan

He advised them to pray to God to choose what is good for Oyo state ,in the interest of peace and development.

He thanked the church for the honour of inviting him to serve as the Father of the Day at this year’s celebration of the Anglican Christian Fellowship.

“I receive this honour with humility and deep appreciation.
Today is special, not only because we gather to celebrate faith and fellowship, but because we stand together as a community united in hope, strength, and purpose”he said .

Chief Oladimeji explained that Nigeria is passing through times that test all and that the church, in particular, has not been spared.

“We are still grieving and concerned over the recent attacks and kidnapping of pastors and church members in Nigeria State and other parts of the country. These incidents have shaken many homes and communities.”

“At this moment, I join every peace-loving Nigerian to condemn these acts and to pray for the safe rescue of those still in captivity. I also stand in solidarity with their families, their congregations, and all people affected by insecurity across our nation”

These challenges remind us that *security must remain the highest priority* for leadership at all levels. Every citizen — Christian, Muslim, traditional worshipper — deserves to live free from fear. This is not a religious issue. It is a human issue. And it concerns us all.

“Many of you already know about my ongoing public journey and my decision to offer myself for service in 2027. As a son of Ibadanland and Oyo State, my heart is committed to building a future where our communities are secure, our youth are empowered, and every family can thrive with dignity.”

“I do not stand here today to campaign.
Instead, I humbly ask for your prayers, goodwill, and moral support,* so that whatever God has planned for Oyo State through any of us will come to pass in peace, unity, and wisdom.”

He explained that St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Ayekale, has played a major role in nurturing values, building families, and supporting the spiritual growth of countless sons and daughters of Ibadan.

“Your steadfastness in difficult times is a testament to your faith and discipline. Your fellowship promotes community, mentorship, and service — values that every society needs, regardless of political or religious differences.”
