By Abdulrahman Aliagan,  Abuja

The Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to support the military’s efforts to combat insecurity, emphasizing that peace is the foundation for national development and economic growth.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 45th International Trade Fair in Kano, organized by the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (KACCIMA), the Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability across the nation. He reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s dedication to fostering a secure environment conducive to economic prosperity, urging citizens to maintain confidence in the security forces while offering prayers for continued progress.

The trade fair, a flagship event for showcasing economic opportunities, attracted dignitaries including representatives from the Office of the Vice President, the Governor of Kano State, and prominent business leaders from Nigeria and abroad. The event underscored the importance of diversifying the Nigerian economy through non-oil exports, a vision strongly supported by Minister Badaru.

As a former National President and Lifetime National Vice President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Minister Badaru’s ties to the business community were evident. His participation reinforced his commitment to advancing trade, industry, and economic development in Nigeria.

During his address, the Minister commended KACCIMA for its dedication to organizing the annual trade fair, describing it as a vital platform for fostering investment, innovation, and international business partnerships. He stressed the critical role of non-oil exports in achieving Nigeria’s diversification goals and called on stakeholders to harness the country’s export potential.

“An improving security situation will pave the way for enhanced economic prosperity,” the Minister noted, underscoring the symbiotic relationship between peace and development.

The 45th International Trade Fair, with its emphasis on economic cooperation, positioned Kano as a central hub for commerce and industry, further cementing its reputation as a key driver of Nigeria’s economic transformation.

Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Defence, noted that the Minister’s presence reaffirmed the government’s dedication to creating an enabling environment for business and investment, highlighting the role of a peaceful and secure Nigeria in achieving sustainable development.
