Succour has come for millions of commuters, motorists, farmers, traders and businesses across the North-Central and North-East geopolitical regions as the Federal Government officially flagged off the construction of the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe–Maiduguri Highway, a landmark project set to redefine transportation, unlock economic opportunities and deepen regional integration.

For decades, road users along the road have endured deteriorating sections of the highway, prolonged travel time and rising transportation costs. The commencement of the project marks a decisive response to these challenges, promising safer travel, faster movement of goods and services, lower logistics costs and renewed economic activities across communities linked by the highway.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, was represented at the flag-off ceremony in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, who reaffirmed the Federal Government resolve to sustain investment in strategic infrastructure that delivers lasting economic value and improves the lives of Nigerians.

The landmark infrastructurea projects executed by the administration of the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule include a modern flyover, extensive road networks and contemporary street lighting, all aimed at improving urban mobility, enhancing public safety and stimulating economic growth within the state.

The twin events underscored the Federal Government’s sustained drive to expand critical infrastructure nationwide while reinforcing collaboration with sub-national governments to accelerate development, improve connectivity and deliver tangible dividends of democracy to the Nigerian people.
