Hon. Aliyu Alabi Oniye, Aspirant for the Federal House of Representatives, Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency, has congratulated Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia, Ph.D, on the conferment of a prestigious chieftaincy title by His Royal Highness, Eze J. Osoka Agwu, the traditional ruler of Amaba–Ukwu Item, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
Dr. Ajia was honoured with the title Uwanne Ukwu di na Mba of Amaba–Ukwu Item, meaning Great Brother Across the Land, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to leadership, unity, and community development that cut across ethnic, regional, and political lines.
In a congratulatory message made available to the press, Hon. Oniye described the honour as “well-deserved and deeply symbolic,” noting that the title reflects Dr. Ajia’s lifelong commitment to service, bridge-building, and people-centred leadership.
“Dr. Ajia is a distinguished son of Ilorin, Kwara State, whose public life has been defined by empathy, accessibility, and a strong connection with grassroots communities,” Hon. Oniye said. “This recognition by the people of Amaba–Ukwu Item affirms that true leadership transcends geography and speaks a universal language of service.”
According to Hon. Oniye, Dr. Ajia has consistently demonstrated maturity, discipline, and strategic insight in public affairs, contributing meaningfully to governance and political stability. He added that beyond formal political office, Dr. Ajia has continued to command respect and relevance through ideas, integrity, and moral authority.
The aspirant further noted that Dr. Ajia’s influence outside government has remained impactful, particularly in mentoring young leaders, promoting dialogue, and contributing to national conversations on inclusive development and unity.
Hon. Oniye commended His Royal Highness, Eze J. Osoka Agwu, and the entire Amaba–Ukwu Item community for the honour, describing traditional titles as sacred recognitions reserved for individuals who have earned the trust and respect of the people through consistent service and commitment to communal values.
“In a diverse country like Nigeria, honours such as this remind us that unity is strengthened when leaders choose inclusion, dialogue, and service over division and self-interest,” he stated.
Hon. Oniye concluded by praying that the new title would further strengthen Dr. Ajia’s voice, expand his impact, and deepen his contributions to humanity, while urging emerging leaders to draw inspiration from his example of enduring relevance beyond power.
