Kebbi State Controller of Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs. Rabi Bashir Nuhu has handed over five victims of trafficking, who were trafficked to Liberia through Sokoto State to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

Briefing newsmen shortly after the handing over of the suspects yesterday to the NAPTIP, the Controller said the four girls were rescued when the border patrol team of the Immigration intercepted them at Yauir border post in a commercial bus coming from Ogun State to Sokoto through Kebbi State.

After the interrogation, she said they discovered that the two of the victims: Fumilayo Olutusin from Ogun State and Enabele lydia from Delta State were 18 years old.

They confessed that they were going to Sokoto State to meet someone that will take them to Liberia.

“We did not contact anybody yet because they confessed to the offence while the other two said they are going to Sokoto for labour work and the only man said he is a commercial drivers but he needs to be interrogated,” she said.

She explained that the girls claimed that they were going to Liberia as a house help, which is not true, but are suspected to be introduced into prostitution or for organ harvest.

She then assured that NAPTIP would not fold its hands and watch people commit such crimes, as the Agency will arrest and prosecute anyone found in such acts.

Kebbi State Coordinator of NAPTIP,   Misbahu Iyya Kaura assured that the agency would investigate and unite the victims with their families.

One of the victims, Enabele Lydia, who spoke to newsmen on behalf of the others, said her parents were  aware of her intention to travel to Liberia as a house help.
