National Association of Northern Students (NANS) yesterday presented an award of excellence to Imam (Dr) Sharafudeen Abdulsalam Aliagan, the Chairman, and founder of Ashraaf Islamic Foundation.
The association’s 4-man delegation, led by Malam Abdulrahman Ibrahim, expressed their admiration for the work being done by the Imam and the Foundation in addressing various societal challenges.

During the presentation of the award, Malam Abdulrahman Ibrahim highlighted the association’s focus on four cardinal points, which include campaigning against drug abuse, female child sexual harassment, menace of sex-for-marks and out-of-school children, particularly in the northern Nigeria.
He commended Imam Aliagan for being a role model and a source of inspiration for the younger generation.
The meeting between the delegation and Imam Aliagan took place after the conclusion of the post-review of the just concluded 7th Annual Ramadan Lecture Series and Prayers for the Nation of the Foundation held last Saturday.
The delegation of the students’ association expressed gratitude for the warm reception and iftar offered by the Imam.

In response, Imam Aliagan expressed his deep gratitude to Almighty Allah for the blessings and praised the noble prophet. He expressed his surprise at receiving the award, humbly attributing all achievements to the grace of Allah.
Imam Aliagan further applauded the Association’s thematic focus on addressing societal issues such as sexual harassment, decent dressing code, drug abuse, and examination malpractice. He thanked and appreciated the NANS delegation for recognizing his efforts and prayed for the Association’s success.
Adding to the conversation, Ustaz Mahmud Funsho Kasandubu, the Executive Director of Ashraaf Islamic Foundation, emphasized that the Foundation conducts thorough background checks before associating with any organization.
He confirmed that the Foundation had conducted such checks on NANS and found them worthy. Ustaz Kasandubu also pledged the Foundation’s support for the Association.
The Executive Director however delegated the Deputy Director of Information and Communications Directorate of the the Foundation, Malam Bello Kabir to officiate the presentation of the award ceremony.
The delegation was comprised of Malam Abdulrahman Ibraheem as the leader, along with Sekyen Twakden, Nurudeen Ali, and Muzizatun Mustapha.
The award ceremony served as a platform for recognizing the outstanding work of Imam Aliagan and fostering closer ties between the Ashraaf Islamic Foundation and the National Association of Northern Students.
