The L-PRESS, in collaboration with the Gombe State Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, has carried out a free vaccination exercise against liver disease in cattle at the Doka Cattle Rearing Centre in New Mile Uku, Gombe.

Speaking during the exercise, Dr. Adamu Boyi Kumo underscored the importance of routine vaccination in livestock management, describing it as essential to safeguarding animal health and boosting livestock production across the state.

He explained that the vaccination campaign is conducted annually and offered free of charge to herders statewide as part of efforts to enhance livestock development and curb the outbreak of diseases.

Dr. Boyi further disclosed that the statewide vaccination drive has commenced, targeting improved animal health and productivity.

He added that, in addition to liver disease, free vaccinations against anthrax and contagious bovine pleuropneumonia in cattle, as well as Newcastle disease in poultry, will be administered across Gombe State.

He called on herders to cooperate fully with officials to ensure the success of the programme.

Some beneficiaries of the exercise, including Ardo Muhammad Yerima and Adamu Muhammadu, commended the Ministry and supporting organisations for the intervention.

They urged fellow herders to take advantage of the free vaccination programme to protect their livestock from preventable diseases.
