Lagos, Edo Governors, Agoro, Eleniyan Win at Eko Mi Awards

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Edo State counterpart, Governor Monday Okpebholo were honored at the 2026 Eko Mi Awards for their achievements in delivering dividends of democracy and exceptional leadership qualities.

The two Governors received awards on Friday, July 17, 2026 during the 3rd edition of Eko Mi Awards held at Shell Hall, MUSON Centre, Ikoyi.

Sanwo-Olu represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin promised to deliver more dividends of democracy to Lagosians.

According to him, we appreciate you (Organisers) for this award. It shows that you love Mr Governor for what he is doing across the state. Keep up the good works.

While Edo State Governor, Monday Okehpbolo bagged ‘Friend of Lagos Award’ in recognition of his support for the Centre of Excellence and running inclusive administration.

Edo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua who received the award hailed the Organisers for recognising the impressive performance of Governor Okehpbolo in Edo State.

The CEO of Image Expressions and Publisher, Eko Mi Eko e Magazine, Otunba Bestman Nze-Jumbo who is Brain behind the awards, applauded Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Governor Monday Okpebholo for running humane and people-friendly administration.

Bestman said: “We are proud to associate with the two Progressive Governors; Sanwo-Olu and Okehpbolo. We decided to honor the duo based on the feedback from the grassroots. Your Excellencies, we appreciate you for delivering dividends of democracy to the populace. Your achievements are visible.”

Other awards include Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro (Excellent Leadership Award), Executive Director of Galaxy Backbone, Hon Olusegun Olulade (Eleniyan), Hon James Faleke, Publisher of Citypeople Magazine, Mayor Akinpelu, Nollywood Actress, Dayo Amusa, LAMATA among others.

Dignitaries in attendance include former Director General, Nigerian Stock Exchange, Prof  Okereke, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Mr. Abdul-Rafiu Fashola, Chief Bajulaye of Lagos, Celebrities and Political Office Holders. Gbenga Adeyinka anchored the event while 9ice and popular female drummer, Ara entertained guests at the 2026 Eko Mi Awards.
