NCC Partners with ICANN to Host DNSSEC Awareness Webinar on December 12

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced plans to host a Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) awareness webinar on Thursday, December 12, 2024. The virtual event, scheduled for 11:00 a.m. WAT, aims to enhance awareness of DNSSEC validation and improve Nigeria’s adoption rate.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced plans to host a Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) awareness webinar on Thursday, December 12, 2024. The virtual event, scheduled for 11:00 a.m. WAT, aims to enhance awareness of DNSSEC validation and improve Nigeria’s adoption rate.

In a notice shared via its verified social media account on December 9, 2024, the NCC revealed that the webinar is being organized in collaboration with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). The initiative is part of efforts to ensure Nigeria achieves a 50% DNSSEC validation rate by the first quarter of 2025.

“The objective of this programme is to promote DNSSEC validation and ensure increased awareness by the end of the year,” the Commission stated.

The webinar will feature notable speakers, including Babagana Digima, Head of New Media and Information Security at the NCC; Dr. Ibiso Kingsley-George, Head of the NCC’s Internet Governance Unit; and Yazid Akanho, Technical Engagement Manager for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) at ICANN.
