NDC Slashes Nomination Form Fees for Women, Youths, PWD Ahead of 2027 Elections

1 Mins read

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has announced special discounts on nomination and expression of interest forms for women, youths and persons living with disabilities ahead of the 2027 general elections, as part of efforts to encourage broader participation in Nigeria’s democratic process.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the party said the initiative reflects its commitment to inclusiveness and equal representation in politics.

Enekweizu stated that the party believes financial limitations and physical disabilities should not prevent qualified Nigerians from contributing to nation-building through elective positions.

“The fact that someone is young and may not be a money bag or is disadvantaged by some physical disabilities should not shut him or her from contributing their quota to nation-building,” he said.

He added that women in Nigeria have continued to face cultural and structural barriers that have limited their participation in politics, stressing that affirmative measures were necessary to create opportunities for them.

According to him, the party would be “short-changing itself” if it excluded women, who make up nearly half of the country’s population, from active participation in the democratic process.

The NDC therefore announced that all female aspirants on its platform would pay 50 per cent of the official fees for both the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms currently on sale.

The party also approved a 50 per cent discount for aspirants between the ages of 18 and 35, while Persons Living with Disabilities would pay only 25 per cent of the advertised fees.

The statement further clarified that Presidential, Governorship and National Assembly forms would be obtained at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, while forms for State Houses of Assembly would be collected from the party’s state offices across the country.
