  • Senator Ehigie Uzamere Eulogies Lancelot Imasuen On His 30-Years In The Film Industry

A former two-time Senator who represented Edo South senatorial district, Ehigie Uzamere has praised Africa’s most consistent filmmaker, Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen for his dedication, resilience, and brilliance in the Nollywood Industry for the past 30 years.

In a memoir written about the prolific movie maker, Senator Uzamere said; Today, we are not celebrating your years on earth, but 30 years of a true icon of African cinema, Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, in the film industry. A man whose name has become synonymous with excellence, creativity, and cultural pride. A man who is best at what he loves doing.

For three decades, you have illuminated our screens with stories that reflect our heritage, values, and humanity. Through your art, you have not only entertained but also educated and inspired generations. You have brought laughter to many homes watching your creations.

You stand tall as a proud son of Benin. A cultural ambassador who has carried the torch of our identity across continents. Your journey has been one of dedication, resilience, and brilliance. You have raised and mentored countless young men and women who now shine in their own right, all because you chose to invest in people and in the power of storytelling. Our Benin history and culture remain alive through your creativity, ensuring a lifetime of cultural endurance.

I still recall vividly the occasion we attended many years ago in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, where you performed credibly before an entire audience. It was there, and then I concluded that your remarkable talents deserved greater encouragement and support so that you could excel even further. Indeed, time has proven that conviction right. You have surpassed every expectation and are still waxing strong.

The House of Ehigie Uzamere joins your family, colleagues, and millions of your admirers around the world in celebrating this remarkable milestone. Your legacy continues to expand, and your impact on Nollywood and the creative world remains profound. We are deeply proud of you, Lancelot, and your achievements.

May the Lord bless your family and the work of your hands. May the next thirty years bring even greater achievements, deeper fulfillment, and more timeless stories that honour our people and our past.
