Oyetola’s appointees left with official vehicles, others, Adeleke reveals

The Osun State Government, yesterday, said that two-thirds of appointed officials in the immediate past administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola carted away vehicles attached to their offices.

This was contained in a statement signed by the spokesperson to the governor, Olawale Rasheed.

According to Rasheed, Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed the officials to return the property to their possession within 48 hours.

The statement, which also revealed that the former officials removed computers and pillaged their official residences even to lamp fittings, further stated: “The directive was sequel to large scale diversion of government assets by top officials of the immediate past administration. Several official vehicles are missing, while official records indicated that two-thirds of the former officials left with a fleet of cars in their offices.

“Most Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) were stripped of operational assets like vehicles, computers and even residential fittings. The residences of some top officials were equally pillaged even to lamp fittings.

“Any former official, who refuses to comply with the directive, will face the full weight of the law.”
REACTING, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state asked the state government to be specific about its allegation of assets stripping.

The Osun APC Director of Operations, Sunday Akere, who stated this in a statement, yesterday, said the current government appeared uncoordinated, saying: “You set up panel on this same assets matter yesterday. Is it that another committee has been set up in the office of the governor? They should be specific and we will respond appropriately.”
