From Bola Ogunlayi, Ibadan.

A High Court sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has finally dismissed a case filed by Rauf Olaniyan, the deputy governor, challenging the move to remove him from office.

The Court in the wake of the call for removal of the Deputy Governor Engr Rauf Olaniyan had granted an order stating that the status quo must be retained.

But the House moved ahead asking the Oyo State Chief Judge to constitute a Committee for the probe of the Deputy Governor.

The State House of Assembly hinged its move against the number two citizen on alleged abuse of office and gross misconduct.

Justice Ladiran Akintola held that the lawmakers and all the defendants did not err on the impeachment process.

According to Akintola, the originating summons filed by the claimant was purely a legislative procedure and not judicial in line with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
