The National Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniyan, has reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to deepening community policing and human rights advocacy through strategic partnerships, following a high-level meeting in Abuja.
Olaniyan gave the assurance while receiving Comrade Bibi Oduku, Chairman of Guard Time Information and Human Rights Activists Nationwide, during a collaboration meeting aimed at advancing public safety, citizen rights, and community development.
The PCRC Chairman commended the organisation for what he described as its consistent and impactful role in defending the rights of citizens and promoting societal well-being. He noted that the partnership would enhance public enlightenment initiatives and foster stronger relationships between the Nigeria Police Force and the communities they serve.
According to him, the collaboration will focus on promoting non-violence and peace-building initiatives, implementing educational programmes for police personnel and their families, and intensifying awareness campaigns on drug abuse, crime prevention, and other social vices. He added that strengthening human rights advocacy would remain central to the joint efforts.
In his remarks, Oduku expressed optimism that the partnership would significantly contribute to improved peace, security, and effective community service delivery across the country. He reiterated the commitment of Guard Time Information to supporting the Nigeria Police Force in fulfilling its mandate as the nation’s foremost internal security agency.
He further highlighted the group’s ongoing nationwide campaigns targeting drug abuse, crime prevention, and the promotion and protection of citizens’ rights, particularly within higher institutions, where rising cases of substance abuse continue to pose serious societal challenges.
The meeting, stakeholders noted, represents a critical step toward building a safer, more informed, and rights-conscious society through collaborative engagement between security agencies and civil society organisations.
