Peace Advocacy, Solution to Nigeria’s Challenges – UN POLAC Foundation

Leaders of the United Nations, POLAC Foundation have appealed to Nigerians to be Peace advocates noting that it is one of the solutions to solving the nation’s security and economic challenges.

This is just as the Foundation is holding a National peace summit and sensitization tour on conflict resolution to tertiary institutions across the six geopolitical zones.

Speaking at the event to commemorate this year’s international day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy in Lagos, the Director General of UN POLAC Foundation, Lion Prof,Halo Eton represented by the director of inter-religious Affairs, UN POLAC, Amb.Paxman Ekpuze stressed the need for religious tolerance and proactive measures aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence.

“When Nigeria becomes one, we now have another division which is religion and in peace advocacy of United Nations, we are all brothers”

Delivering his keynote speech, Joseph Ufon who highlighted some of the challenges facing the country, called for concerted efforts in addressing the problems as it poses a great threat to national unity.

“As the world battles the impact of climate change as a result of global warming, the tendencies is that we may be facing abject, indigent disunity if it is not addressed”.

Earlier in their separate remarks,the deputy Country President UN POLAC, Amb.Peter Ohagwa and the Chairman National Advisory Council, UN POLAC, Dr Ogunsanya reiterated the commitment of the Foundation in fostering peace advocacy, also called for collective efforts and effective participation of stakeholders in building a more equitable and peaceful society.

One of the recipients of Peace Ambassadors, Conferred with honorary doctorate degree in peace education & Community Development, Amb.Mrs Lydia Okodogbe commended UN POLAC for the work they are doing through the United Nations in the interest of peaceful coexistence within communities and pledged total support in advancing the course of Peace.

The event with the theme,’Uniting for a peaceful and Sustainable Future “witnessed award presentation to Peace Ambassadors and conferment of honorary doctorate degree in peace practice and internal relations to personalities from both private and public sectors.
