Pope Francis Honours Plateau Sons and Daughters

Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau state who is the Chairman of the Governors Forum has been honored as Knight of Saint Gregory KSG by Pope Francis, the governor alongside the Secretary to the Government of the State, Professor Danladi Atu, Hon. Edward Pwajok (SAN), Former member of House of Representatives represented Jos East/South Federal Constituency, Sir, Joseph Ari, Director General of the Industrial Training Funds (ITF) and 26 others.

The investiture of the papal awards to these great and worthy Plateau Sons and daughters was perform by His Grace Catholic Archbishop and Apostolic Administrator of Jos, Reverend Ignatious  Kaigama at the Divine Mercy Cathedral sited at Kwanga, along Lamingo Road Jos.

The Bishop who cautions Christians and Nigerians at large to desist from attacking one another, shun drunkenness and other forms of sins, he further admonishes believers in Christ to move to the next level of spiritual life.

In his statement, Chairman Christians Association CAN Plateau state, Reverend Soja Bewareng appreciate the Pope for the honour he did for the Church on the Plateau, he thanked  God for His blessings and pray for the unity of church on the Plateau and Nigeria as a whole.

According to him, “There is need for us to overcome our challenges of ethnicity, religious and political divides.

The National President of Papal Knight and Medalist in Nigeria said 32 members were added to the association. The association act as a peer review group, we watch and monitor ourselves so that we can offer more to the Church and humanity.

Responding on behalf of the awardees, Governor Simon Bako Lalong said with the honour given to them, they will rededicate themselves and be the true servants of Christ and this will afford us opportunity to propagate the gospel of  Christ, he employ citizens to be tolerance, peaceful coexistence and forgive one another, so that we will not lose the hard earned peace in the state.

He condemn the killings and kidnappings of Plateau citizens in the North East and condole with the families of the victims.
