President Tinubu Appoints Kwara Prince, Salihu Agboola-Balogun to National Assembly Service Commission

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Alhaji Salihu Umar Agboola-Balogun, a distinguished educationist and retired principal from Kwara State, as a member of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC).

Agboola-Balogun, a prince of the Gambari royal dynasty in Ilorin, was among the 12 individuals selected to represent Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones in the commission. His appointment, alongside others, was announced on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

The NASC, responsible for overseeing recruitment, promotion, and staff welfare in the National Assembly, will be chaired by Dr. Saviour Enyiekere, an environmental specialist and former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Senate President. Like the other members, he will serve a renewable five-year term.

North-West: Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi, Hon. Yusuf A. Yusuf Tabuka

North-East: Aminu Ibrahim Malle, Alhaji Lawan Maina Mahmud

North-Central: Mark Hanmation Tersoo, Salihu Umar Agboola-Balogun

South-West: Hon. Taiwo Olukemi Oluga, Hon. Afeez Ipeza-Balogun

South-East: Hon. Dr. Nnanna Uzor Kalu, Festus Ifesinachi Odii

South-South: Patrick A. Giwa, Mrs. Mary Ekpenyong

Alhaji Agboola-Balogun has had an illustrious career in education, having served as Principal of Community Secondary School, Ogbondoroko (Asa LGA, Kwara State), Banni Community Secondary School, and Government Day Secondary School, Karuma, Ilorin.

His appointment is seen as a recognition of his contributions to education and public service in Kwara State and beyond.
