Ekiti APC dismisses allegations
• Consensus arrangement constitutional, says Lagos APC

The South-West Agenda for Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2023 (SWAGA) has rejected the ward congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the weekend in Ekiti State, describing it as a charade that cannot pass the test of democracy.

It, therefore, urged the Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) to set them aside and fix a new date, as well as appoint a neutral committee to come to the state to conduct the exercise.

Meanwhile, one person was feared killed and many others injured during the violence that marred the ward congresses of the party in the state.

It was gathered that the deceased, who was simply identified as Jide, was stabbed to death following the violence that erupted in Ado Ward 10 after the exercise.

National Chairman of SWAGA, Dayo Adeyeye, who briefed newsmen, yesterday, in a reaction to the killing, said that the party had never recorded this kind of violence.

HOWEVER, reacting to SWAGA allegation, the party spokesman in Ekiti, Ade Ajayi, denied the allegations by the leaders on the congresses, saying that all members of the party were allowed to participate.

Similarly, the Lagos State chapter of the party has said that the consensus arrangement of the just-concluded ward congresses was provided for by the party’s constitution.

The party spokesman in Lagos, Seye Oladejo, in a statement, yesterday, said that the congress was devoid of any ugly incident. He said that the consensus arrangement was affirmed at the various venues of the ward congress across the state and was witnessed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and other stakeholders.
