President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been called upon to review his economic policy to relief Nigerians of the current hardship they are facing.

Kogi. State Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) Comrade Doctor Ojoranti Matthew made the call while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja.

Comrade Ojoranti said Tinubu had not properly understudied the economic situation of the country before the subsidy removal noting that the singular action and pronouncement has continued to nosedive the economy of the nation.

He explained that all parliatives initiated to cushion the effect had remain a mirage and totally off the target emphasising that greedy politicians and Stakeholders in charge usually divert what should have benefitted the masses.

The union leader appealed to the President to urgently address the situation by taking drastic steps towards rescuing the people from the turmoil they had been thrown to to avoid waves of crime and breakage of law and order.

On the initiative to make fund available for undergraduate to access and pay back when gainfully employed, Comrade Ojoranti who maintained that the idea was a lofty one also emphasised that such is not necessary when things are right economically.

His words ” President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not carefully studied the situation on ground before subsidy removal. All intervention to cushion the effect had not been visible at all. Prices of consumable items have continued to rise to the highest heaven and life becoming more and more difficult. It shows that fuel remain a driving force of the economy. Today everybody is finding it difficult to even feed not to talk of travelling from one place to another. The Federal Government approved salary increment but how many State complied to the directive. It is so sad to find the country in such situation. People had high hopes for a better Nigeria and such lofty hope is crushed by simple unanalytical decision”.

On the introduction of free education in Kogi State, the union leader who praised Governor Yahaya Bello for the payment of WAEC fee and other exams, said the development will relieve parents of the burden the are facing.

He appealed to principals not to mess up the process as a positive reinforcement to the initiative.
