Richard Ojo Emerges New JCI Nigeria President

At the expiration of the 2016 national executives of Junior Chamber International Nigeria, (JCIN) by December this year, Senator Ojo Richard Babajide has been elected the new President of the International organisation for the year 2017.

The election that took place in the early hours of Saturday 15th of October at the Golden Tulip Hotel, FESTAC town, Lagos State as part of the finale of the organization’s Annual National Convention tagged “Lasgidi 2016” however saw to the emergence of the new President of organization.

Until his emergence as the new President of the organization, Richard is a member of JCIASO, a local organization based in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. He serves currently as General Legal Counsel of the National Organization and will be taking over from the current leadership of JCI Ambassador Tunji Oyeyemi.

The new JCI President had served in various capacities between 2004 to 2016 both at the collegiate, local and national levels amongst which are, 2011 JCIASO President, 2013 Chairman, National Presidential Swearing in Committee , 2014 National Vice President (North East), 2015 National Executive Vice President (2015) and currently the National General Legal Counsel.

Richard is an Insurance practitioner with Boff & Co. Insurance Brokers Limited; he is married and blessed with children.

Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a non-profit international non-governmental organization of young people between 18 and 40 years old. It has members in about 124 countries and regional or national organizations in many of them. It has consultative status with the Council of Europe, with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and with UNESCO.

It was founded in St Louis in 1915. It encourages young people to become responsible citizens and to participate in efforts towards social and economic development, and international co-operation, good-will and understanding.
